A perspective shaped from every side
Mary Anne Hatch brings a unique background and perspective to conversations about generosity and legacy, shaped by her experience in private wealth management, nonprofit institutional wealth management, ministry leadership, and nonprofit governance.
Throughout her career, Mary Anne has served private wealth clients at E.F. Hutton, Shearson Lehman Hutton, and Smith Barney. She worked with nonprofit institutions, volunteered her services alongside organizations throughout New York City including Legal Aid Society and Cru Inner City. In addition, Mary Anne led a ministry serving more than 300 women each week. Most recently, she served as vice president and a board member of a foundation supporting more than 40 ministries worldwide.
Across these roles, she saw the same challenge from different sides of the table. Donors, nonprofit leaders, and professional advisors often care deeply about the same outcomes, yet approach generosity with different knowledge, priorities, and perspectives. As a result, meaningful opportunities can be overlooked simply because each individual professional may not have the expertise to know how to connect all the pieces for a better outcome financially for the donor and the nonprofit.
The meaning behind the name
Mary Anne's experience became the foundation for Lacus Legacy Consulting. Lacus means pool, and from her family heritage, Mary Anne drew from the idea of a “sacred pool,” because how we view generosity makes all the difference in how we steward what we have been given.
Today, she helps donors and organizations expand the way they think about generosity, stewardship, and legacy while respecting the important role of each donor, the donor’s legal, tax, and financial professionals, as well as the vision each brings to the table. Her approach is grounded in education and a belief that meaningful generosity begins with understanding what is possible.
